England head coach Gareth Southgate heaps praise on Phil Jones

England national team coach Gareth Southgate has insisted that Phil Jones is the best defender in the country based on his current form.


The 25-year-old has started the season as a regular for both club and country while putting fear of injuries behind him.

The centre-back has started all three of Manchester United's league outings this term, and he has since featured for the Three Lions in their 4-0 triumph over Malta. Southgate has already confirmed that Jones will start the game against Slovakia, and he went on to praise the Englishman for his aggressiveness on the field.

England International Wayne Rooney has come under the spotlight again after Sir Geoff Hurst urged England’s manager Gareth Southgate not to include the ex-Red Devils forward in the squad as they prepare to face Malta on September 1st in the first round of the World Cup Qualifying round.

Rooney scored his 200th Premier League goal for Everton against Manchester City on Monday to stay tact as the second all-time Premier League highest goal scorer as his side drew 1-1 at the Etihad.

A Turkish club has confirmed that they are in talks with Arsenal over a possible signing of Jack Wilshere this summer.


Antalyasporwant the midfielder who has 12 months left on his deal to move to Turkey as he struggles to manage his injury tendencies in England.

Sky Sources claim Serie A side Sampdoriawanted to offer £6 million in initial offer with total package of £9 million for Wilshere last week. However, the Turkish club president Ali SafakOzturk has opened up on the interest in the player. He added that the deal for Wilshere depends on the price the Gunners would let him leave for.

Gareth Southgate wants to test Nathaniel Chalobah at the big stage

Nathaniel Chalobah is a 22 year old footballer who can operate either as a midfielder or a defender and has been performing in the youth academy since the age of 10 and has been offloaded to various clubs including: Watford, Nottingham, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli on loan deals.


With all of these clubs that Chalobah has been transferred in, it seems like he has gained the attention of England’s head coach Gareth Southgate as the tactician is being linked with the rising youngster who is struggling to get consistent playing time.

Liverpool Midfielder Ruled Out of England Games against Germany and Lithuania

England will definitely be without midfielder Jordan Henderson for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania, as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the player is still struggling with an injury.


Henderson has not played for Liverpool for well over a month. His last appearance for the Reds was in the 2-0 win over Tottenham at the start of February. Even though Liverpool have managed to get wins over Arsenal and Burnley in recent weeks, they have solely as to the presence of the former Sunderland midfielder.
