RONALDO SETS RECORD WITH PLAYER AWARD

Five-time Ballon d'Or recipient Cristiano Ronaldo has set a record for the most PFA Player of the Month award wins this season after he was named as the recipient of the award for last month. The Portuguese international skipper is the first player to win the PFA monthly award twice this season. He won the award for the first time this season in September 2021 in what was his first month back in the Premier League following this transfer to Manchester United from Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

With his latest win, Ronaldo has moved to six PFA monthly awards and he's one more win away from the record jointly held by England international Harry Kane and retired Argentine star Sergio Aguero. Aguero retired from football earlier this season due to a heart condition, while Three Lions of England captain Harry Kane is still going strong at North London club Tottenham Hotspur.

Ronaldo won the latest Player of the Month award in the English top flight ahead of South Korean attacker Son Heung-Min, new Newcastle United signing Bruno Guimares, Belgian international playmaker Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, Leandro Trossard of Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley defender Nathan Collins, Manchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool midfield controller Thiago Alcantara.
Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo won the April 2022 PFA Player of the Month award after scoring five times in league games during the month under consideration. He made the headlines for the wrong reasons after smashing the phone of a fan shortly after the full-time whistle had been blown in the 1-0 away defeat to Everton. Ronaldo apologised for the incident and returned to the pitch to score three times in the 3-2 win over Norwich City. He also found the back of the net during games against Arsenal and Chelsea.
